What is fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP)?
Fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) is an advanced fibre broadband technology that utilises fibre optic cables to deliver ultrafast internet connectivity directly from your local exchange to your home.
Fibre-to-the-premises is also known as fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) or “full fibre”.
Fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) is a faster, better, alternative to fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC), which uses fibre only up to a street cabinet, and relies on slower copper wires for the final connection. This can limit speed and performance, particularly over longer distances, or during peak usage times.
Fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) is also known as fibre-to-the-home (FTTH)
Not sure how fast your broadband currently is? Use our broadband speed test to check.
Can I get FTTP to my house?
Use our broadband coverage checker and if you’re within range, our engineers can quickly get to your home and install the equipment. On installation, a fibre cable is run from the nearest distribution point to your property. We use overhead fibre where possible, making use of existing phone lines, and we also use underground ducts where necessary.
Our engineer will consult with you on the best place for the cable to enter your premises. At this entry point, we fix a small box discreetly to your wall/skirting board – which connects to your router. Depending on where you live, this box is 77mm x 77mm x 28mm in size.
Do we charge a set up fee for fibre broadband?
No, we don’t charge an extra installation cost. We offer broadband with no upfront costs.
What does FTTP equipment look like?
The visible equipment on the exterior of your property is very discrete. We always aim to keep the cable run as hidden as possible.
The internal equipment will be installed at the location where the cable comes into the property.
