A download speed of at least 10Mbps is an adequate broadband speed for simple web activity.

However, this is the absolute minimum for the most basic tasks and whether you need broadband just for you, or the whole family you’ll need a faster connection so that multiple devices can be connected to the broadband at the same time, and not impact one another.

Fibre broadband, also known as fibre optic, fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) and fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connects you to the internet using more efficient and reliable fibre optic cables for the entire length of your connection.

It doesn’t rely on a copper phone line for the last leg of the connection like FTTC (fibre-to-the-cabinet) does, so you don’t need a phone line to get ultrafast fibre. With fibre broadband, you’ll get future-proofed technology, less interference and speedier streaming.

Yes, you can! Our fixed wireless broadband and fibre broadband networks don’t use traditional copper phone lines. This means your WiFi doesn’t require a phone line to connect you to great speeds.

If you want to keep a phone line, you can get a VoIP service, allowing you to take calls on your home phone via your internet connection. You can even use your normal telephone by using an ATA (Analog Telephone Adaptor) that your VoIP provider will give you. This is a simple device that connects to any standard telephone in order for it to be used through an internet connection.

Choosing a broadband package without getting a phone line means it’s much quicker to set up and you won’t have to pay for line rental anymore!

No. When you get broadband with Airband, you don’t need a landline to get set up. In fact, it’s quicker and easier to get everything in place for you, and you won’t have to pay for line rental.

The cost of a broadband connection can really vary each month depending on what deals are available, what length contract you’d prefer, and what speeds you need; that’s upload and download speed. It’s worth thinking about whether you’d like a contract that’s for 12, 18 or 24 months, or if you don’t mind either way! We offer multiple fibre packages that don’t need charge line rental: Fibre 900, Fibre 600, Fibre 300 and Fibre 150, as well as our fixed wireless broadband package. Our prices range from £33/month to £58/month.

All of our packages now include either one or two WiFi 6 mesh routers which you’ll receive completely free of charge. WiFi 6 mesh routers are the latest technology and provide a faster, more reliable connection with the option to add more nodes for whole-home coverage.

3Mbps is the minimum speed you’ll require to watch and stream on Netflix in standard definition on one device. But if you want to watch in Ultra HD, you’ll need a minimum of 15Mbps. And to avoid that irritatingly endless buffering circle on your screen, aim for more than 25Mbps for both Netflix or Prime.

However, if you’re watching your favourite Netflix series, and your mum, dad or housemates all want to watch their favourites too, you’ll need a faster connection. Otherwise, you might experience some buffering.

Yes, 50Mbps should be fast enough for Netflix. But it does depend on how many people are in your household and what quality you are streaming Netflix in.

If it’s just you, you shouldn’t experience many problems because 3Mbps is the lowest speed you’ll require to watch Netflix in standard definition. But if it’s you, plus other devices using the broadband at the same time, you’ll need more than 50Mbps.

Don’t forget, it depends on what other devices at the time are using the internet connection as well. So when you’re choosing your broadband deal, think about what average speed you think you need.

5Mbps upload speed is adequate if you’re just using a single device, and nobody else is using the internet at the time. However, this is only for doing basic activities like browsing the web or sending emails.

If you want to connect more than one device at once, use video calls, or stream TV boxsets, you’ll likely need faster upload speeds. Before looking at any broadband contracts, make sure you have an idea of what download and upload speed you need.

To choose the right broadband package, you need to consider a few things. What do you need your monthly cost to be? How many people need to use your connection? How long do you want your contract to be?

Once you’ve decided on those, or at least have an idea of what might work for you, you can compare broadband costs. You might have seen other broadband providers such as Virgin Media available in your area. Lots will offer you an average download speed or a broadband phone package. But be sure to do your research properly before you invest in what you need.

The number of people and devices that need to use your connection, and what you use your internet connection for, affects what speeds you need. Our packages are typically 24-month contracts. You might be able to switch provider even if you’re still in the middle of a contract elsewhere.

There can be a set up cost when you choose an internet package. When you’ve looked at the types of broadband available in your area, the contract length you’d prefer, and the broadband provider you like, have a look at their setup costs to be sure. If it isn’t clear, you can always enquire and ask their customer service team.
